Walking Tour of Historic Buildings at Colorado College

Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO developed a self-guided walking tour of the campus that features a dozen historically significant buildings.  The sites on the tour are all listed on the National Register of Historic Places or the State Register of Historic Properties.  The initial web page includes a helpful map with hot links to pages for each of the respective buildings.  You can also find a 20-page .pdf, "Colorado College Historic Building Walking Tour," with information on the institution and each building included in the tour.  Colorado College was founded in 1874.

The Mankato Free Press published a retrospective article March 5, 2018, " Mankato site of state's first public vo-tech ," that provides a brief historical sketch for what is now South Central College. The institution was founded in 1946 as Mankato Vocational School, the first public, post-secondary vocational-technical school in the state. The name change in 1989 to Mankato Technical College. It merged in 1992 to become Albert Lea-Mankato Technical College. Three years later it joined MN State Colleges and Universities System in 1995. Following realignment, it joined with the Faribault campus of what had formerly been MN Riverland Technical College to become South Central Technical College. The name was changed in 2005 to South Central College. South Central College serves 5,090 students and offers 45 academic programs. It also serves over 9,000 additional people through customized training and continuing education programs.

Keystone College Celebrates 150th Anniversary

Keystone College in La Plume, PA, near Scranton, is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its founding in 1868 .  It was  founded as Keystone Academy and then rechartered as Scranton-Keystone Junior College in 1934. The name changed to Keystone Junior College in 1944 and to Keystone College in 1995. The 150th Anniversary web pages offer an extensive array of resources including a schedule of events, historical images and information, and an excellent short YouTube video, " Keystone College Past and Present ." The Times-Tribune of Scranton also published " Keystone College celebrates 150 years of changes ," by Sarah Hofius Hall that includes an historical sketch of institutional changes.

A Forgotten Museum in Glasgow Linked to what is now the University of Strathclyde

I am creating this post using a Twitter thread from earlier today by @OssianLore.  The thread provides some interesting history for the progression of institutions that led to what is now the  University of Strathclyde .  It also provided me with the opportunity to try out an app for rolling up a Twitter thread. Glasgow's forgotten Andersonian Museum, George Street 1831. The museum was established in 1796 from the nucleus of the personal collection of John Anderson, Professor of Oriental Languages and of Natural Philosophy at the University of Glasgow . Anderson bequeathed money for the foundation of a new university dedicated to teaching practical & industrial subjects, thus Anderson's University was founded along with its museum.
