New Name for Rochester College

Rochester College in Rochester Hills, Michigan is changing its name to become Rochester University.

The institution was founded as North Central Christian College in 1959. The name change to Michigan Christian Junior College in 1961 and to to Michigan Christian College in 1978. The name of Rochester College was then adopted in 1997.

Fountainhead College of Technology in Knoxville, TN announced that it will be closing.  You can read a brief statement that is currently posted on the institution's website .   There is also a brief video posted by WATE , Knoxville's ABC affiliate, " Fountainhead College of Technology closing ." The institution was founded as the Tennessee Radio Service School in 1947 at 422 Gay Street in Knoxville.  The following year, the name was changed to Tennessee Institute of Electronics.  The name change once more to Fountainhead College of Technology in 2003. Memories of Former College at an Indiana Resort

The French Lick Resort blog posted " Tales Out of School from West Baden's College Days " this week with a brief historical sketch and comments of several alumni from Northwood Institute.  Northwood Institute operated at the site from 1968-1983.  The institution was founded in Alma, MI in 1959 and the West Baden, IN site "...offered two-year and four-year degrees in business, performing arts and vocational studies. Northwood was renowned for some of its specialty programs like automotive marketing, fashion merchandising, and hotel and restaurant management."  After closing in Indiana, academic programs continued under a new name of Northwood University in Michigan, Florida, and Texas . The resort property used by Northwood Institute was known for its mineral springs and was initially developed as the West Baden Springs Hotel .  The hotel flourished but ultimately closed during the 1930s. A Forgotten Museum in Glasgow Linked to what is now the University of Strathclyde

I am creating this post using a Twitter thread from earlier today by @OssianLore.  The thread provides some interesting history for the progression of institutions that led to what is now the  University of Strathclyde .  It also provided me with the opportunity to try out an app for rolling up a Twitter thread. Glasgow's forgotten Andersonian Museum, George Street 1831. The museum was established in 1796 from the nucleus of the personal collection of John Anderson, Professor of Oriental Languages and of Natural Philosophy at the University of Glasgow . Anderson bequeathed money for the foundation of a new university dedicated to teaching practical & industrial subjects, thus Anderson's University was founded along with its museum.
